A NOTE ABOUT TYPES AND GENRES: Pokemon often have multiple types ( i.e. pidgy is both normal and flying), and books are no different - they often genre jump! If you have a book that you feel has more than one genre, make a case for why you believe it belongs to a different genre, too, and you can choose which pokemon type you want to get ( i.e. if you read The Diary of Anne Frank, it is both an autobiography AND a historical nonfiction).
BUG TYPE: Scientific Non-Fiction
Genre description: Non-fiction means that the author(s) are objectively laying out facts, and scientific non-fiction deals with facts about science and technology. You will most likely find articles about developing research or breakthroughs, books or magazines about a particular scientific or technological topic, or textbooks you read for your science classes. Topics can range from medicine, technology, nature, and agriculture. (note: fill out a DATA CATCH to capture a bug pokemon!)

Electric Type: Science Fiction
Genre description: Science fiction is a genre of fiction in which the stories often tell about science and technology of the future. It is important to note that science fiction has a relationship with the principles of science—these stories involve partially true-partially fictitious laws or theories of science. It should not be completely unbelievable, because it then ventures into the genre fantasy. ( NOTE: many dystopian fiction novels can be considered under the broader umbrella of Sci Fi, so if you are struggling to fill this genre, just pick up another dystopian!)

Fairy tale usually refer to the European short stories and have been re-interpreted often, while folktales are often more tied to culture and may have religious undertones of that culture, so it can be somewhat disrespectful to reinterpret those stories. American Tall tales also fits under this genre, as well as Greek and Nordic myths. I encourage you to read several stories, and try to rewrite a story yourself!

Manga also can range from being urban fantasy (card captor sakura, furuba) to comedy (Yakitate! Japan) to realistic fiction ( With the Light), but it very distinct from other types!
